Impairment rating and disability evaluation
The WHO reports that about 15% of the world’s population lives with some form of activity limitations and/or participation restrictions. This is as a result of significant deviation, or loss of use of any body structure or body function in the individual with an injury, disease or disorder. Clinicians with the knowledge, skills and expertise are required to render quantitative estimates of losses to the individual. .
Road Accident Fund
We make use independent impairment ratings (published by the American Medical Association) and as mandated by various jurisdictions for adjudication of road accident/automobile casualty claims and for personal claims .
Workman compensation
With no-fault insurance compensation, we quantify and translate objective clinical findings into a percentage that measures residual loss. The number is converted into monetary award to the injured party.
Independent medical evaluation for insurance
Insurers use our independent quantification of impairment rating as one of the factors in determining the reserve or settlement value of a claim.
Medico-legal assessment
Attorneys use our evaluation to quantify the impact of an injury and settlement of a claim.
Oil and Gas/ Offshore medical Assessment
The offshore working environment is unique. The oil and gas installations are usually hundreds of kilometres offshore. Typical oil and gas installations have 24-hour operations, with employees working alternate12-hour day and night shifts. Offshore tours of duty are typically of two to three weeks duration. Many of the work functions offshore, require a large degree of lifting and heavy manual handling. Much of the equipment is very heavy and needs regular maintenance and repair to be done in confined working spaces. Much of the work is done at multi-level heights. Fires and explosions are common hazards. Emergency and rescue situations require Offshore Survival Training.
Oil and Gas UK standards
We have an approved Oil & Gas UK examining physician to perform assessment of medical fitness to work in the offshore environment We perform medical assessment of trainees to participate in Emergency Breathing System (EBS) required for Offshore Survival Training.
Other offshore/petrol chemical standards
We provide medical advice to operators of offshore platforms, other production units eg Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels and mobile drilling rigs; and assess persons working offshore to meet the necessary health standards.
